PATTERN experts UK-based duo Eley Kishimoto and Studio MacLean have designed the interior of the recently opened Southerden Patisserie and Café in Bermondsey, south London. The cafe, originally a run-down hairdressers, has been transformed into a strikingly designed store featuring Eley Kishimoto’s new Venice wallpaper range, a bold graphic print – from floor to ceiling – along with Studio MacLean’s technical lighting expertise.
Eley Kishimoto and Studio MacLean have designed the cafe to harmonise with neighbouring building such as the Fashion Textile Museum which the patisserie faces.

This is not the first time that Eley Kishimoto and Studio MacLean have worked together. Studio MacLean designed their first shop which was opened in 2004, also in Bermondsey. Mark Eley says, “It was a pleasure to be trusted by Mel Southerden to transform her new Patisserie Store with a clearly defined vision.

“We have worked well with Studio MacLean over the years, and with restricted time and financial budget on this commission we have executed a feast for your eyes working a top-to-toe Venice pattern installation. We will leave Mel satisfy your sweet and savoury pastry desires.”
The patisserie serves a wide range of daily and locally baked items and Monmouth Coffee, specialty teas and Matcha beverages.
