The Silja Trench and Nora Parka from Njork’s latest rainwear collection
RAINWEAR does not generally have the reputation as being the most fashionable clothing, even with brands like Burberry and Belstaff making a resurgence as proper luxury firms. However, the young design team at Njork are determined to change the perception and aesthetics of rainwear through their new AW2014 collection.
Njork, the brainchild of Ragnhild Fjeldberg, a London-based Norwegian designer, fuses Scandinavian sportswear technology with the cool of British high fashion, all using recycled and sustainable materials when possible. The brand works with a variety of sports and technology sector partners to create waterproof, all weather jackets that are beautiful but also functional – always a necessity in the mercurial British climate.
The Njork AW2014 collection comprises nine pieces, including the longer length Silja Trench with detachable hood, the Nora Parka, and the Siw Biker Jacket, all which are edgy and cool yet do not sacrifice form for function. The outerwear is made from almost entirely recycled materials using sustainable production processes, which in combination result in products that are feel high end but also are high performance.
